When Allah Wills Something, He Only Says to It, “Be, and It Is”

There are moments in life when everything seems impossible.

You make duaa with tears in your eyes, wait for something that seems so far away, and wonder how things could ever work out.

You look at your circumstances, your limitations, and the doors that have closed in front of you, and you begin to question whether what you dream of will ever become reality.

But sometimes, in the middle of all that uncertainty, you need to remind yourself of one beautiful truth: Allah is not limited by what limits you.

What Does كُن فَيَكُونُ Mean?

In the Quran, Allah says:

“Indeed, His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.”

— Surah Ya-Sin (36:82)

Kun fa-yakūn — كُن فَيَكُونُ reminds us of Allah’s absolute power. Nothing is difficult for Him, and nothing happens beyond His knowledge and will.

What seems impossible to you is never beyond Allah’s power. What you cannot understand, He knows. What you cannot control, He has power over. And what feels like the end of the road may simply be a chapter whose purpose you have not yet understood.

This does not mean that everything we wish for will happen exactly as we imagine it. Rather, it means that we can trust Allah even when we cannot see how things will unfold.

When Your Dreams Feel Too Far Away

Maybe you are waiting for a job you desperately want.

Maybe you are making duaa for someone you love, hoping for a new beginning, or asking Allah to open a door that has remained closed for a long time.

Perhaps you have tried everything you know how to do, yet nothing seems to change.

Do not let the difficulty of your circumstances make you forget the greatness of your Lord.

You see the obstacle; Allah knows what lies beyond it.

You see the delay; Allah knows what you cannot see. You see one possible outcome, while your knowledge of the future remains limited.

Keep making duaa. Keep taking the steps you can take. Keep doing what is right, even when the results are not immediate.

Tawakkul is not giving up and waiting for a miracle. It is doing your part while trusting Allah with what is beyond your control.

Trust Allah Even When You Don’t Understand

One of the hardest parts of faith is trusting Allah when life does not go according to your plans.

We often ask, “Why is this happening to me?” or “Why hasn’t my duaa been answered yet?”

It is human to feel disappointed, tired, or uncertain. Faith does not mean you will never experience those feelings. It means you have somewhere to turn when those feelings become overwhelming.

Allah tells us in the Quran:

“And whoever relies upon Allah — then He is sufficient for him.”

— Surah At-Talaq (65:3)

You do not need to know every detail of how your future will unfold to keep trusting Allah. You do not need to have every answer before you make duaa. And you do not need to understand every closed door before you continue moving forward.

Sometimes, peace begins when you stop trying to control every outcome and start trusting the One who knows what you do not.

Your Timing Is Not Allah’s Timing

We live in a world where everyone seems to be moving forward. Someone gets married, someone finds their dream job, someone achieves a goal, and suddenly you begin to wonder why your life looks different.

But another person’s blessing is not evidence that Allah has forgotten you.

Your journey does not have to look like theirs. Their timing does not define yours, and their success does not reduce what is possible in your own life.

Instead of constantly comparing your life to everyone else’s, return to your own relationship with Allah. Ask Him for what you hope for, work toward it with sincerity, and trust His wisdom when the journey takes a different direction.

You may not receive everything you ask for in the way you expect. But you can continue to seek Allah’s guidance, mercy, and goodness in every circumstance.

And while you are trusting Allah with your dreams, remember that the way you pursue them matters, too.

Sometimes, we become so desperate to reach a goal that we begin to justify things we know are wrong. We tell ourselves that everyone is doing it, that it is normal now, or that we have no other choice.

But what is haram does not become halal simply because it becomes common.

If you are waiting for something good, do not sacrifice your relationship with Allah to get it. If you want success, seek it in a way that pleases Him. If you are making duaa for a blessing, do not convince yourself that disobedience is the only way to reach it.

You can choose what is right even when it is difficult. You can walk away from what displeases Allah even when everyone around you accepts it.

You can trust that your worth is not measured by how quickly you achieve what you want.

Never forget: you can desire something deeply without making it more important than your faith.

A Reminder for the Days You Feel Lost

If you are reading this while waiting for an answer, struggling with uncertainty, or wondering whether your dreams will ever come true, take a moment to breathe.

Make your duaa.

Ask Allah for what is good for you, even if you cannot yet see how it could happen. Ask Him to guide you away from what is harmful, give you patience when the waiting feels heavy, and place contentment in your heart with whatever He decrees.

Then take the next right step.

You do not have to solve your entire future today. You do not have to know how every piece of your life will fit together. You only have to remember that your knowledge is limited, while Allah’s knowledge and power are not.

And when something does not happen the way you hoped, do not assume that your life has lost its goodness. Sometimes, the answer is different from what you asked for, and sometimes understanding takes time.

Keep your heart attached to Allah, not to a particular outcome.

Final Thoughts: كُن فَيَكُونُ

The next time life makes you feel that something is impossible, remember these words: كُن فَيَكُونُ

Not because you are guaranteed to receive everything you wish for, but because Allah’s power is greater than every obstacle, His knowledge encompasses what you cannot see, and His wisdom is not limited to your understanding.

Dream, but do not let your dreams become greater than your faith.

Make duaa, but do not despair when the answer takes time.

Work hard, but remember that the outcome is not entirely in your hands.

And above all, never let the world convince you that you must abandon what is right to receive what you desire.

What is meant for you will never require you to disobey Allah to obtain it.

Trust Him with your hopes. Trust Him with your fears. Trust Him with the doors that open and the ones that close.

Because even when you cannot see a way forward, you can still turn to the One whose power has no limits.

Ya Allah, grant us hearts that trust You, tongues that never stop making duaa, patience through what we do not understand, and blessings that bring us closer to You. Ameen.
